Inlet manifold

Hi guys

Just removed my throttle body to give it a good clean, both it and the inlet manifold were absolutely caked in oil!

I could see fluid in the inlet manifold, and guess its a build up of oil (including some carb cleaner I earlier used), anyone else experience this? How easy is the manifold to remove, and if it is oil, could this be the cause of a small amount of blue smoke at high revs?

Absolutely normal Paul. Its a bit scary to see all that oil sat in there for the first time. A few of us have removed the breather pipe from the cam cover and re-routed it to an oil catch tank. That stops all the crap getting into the inlet manifold. There are a few threads on here regarding the fitment of catch tanks. Its very easy to do. Have a search around the site using the searcg tab at the top of the page. If you get stuck, send me a PM.

Thanks Johnny - yes I've seen some of the oil catch mods, didn't realise it "recirculated" so much oil back into the inlet though!
