help my car wont start now !!!

Been out today and drove around for a while , etc , then parked up everything normal , no problems , came home for 2 minutes and the car wont start , all dash lights going beserk on car , got recovery out and eventually it started on jump leads , ran it for about 20 minutes , he checked alternator and reading was 14 , he told me that everything was fine with that .
turned car off and it failed to start again , just hear a clicking sound from top of engine at the front by the injectors , the guy reckons it was just the battery , but im not so sure ?
i have a 2001 sri 150 ......
anyone shed any light on this?
would the battery just die like that or does it seem a little more to you guys ?

it does sound like a cell has failed in the battery :thumbdown:

sounds like battery

if the alternator is pumping 14 volts and your battery is not holding charge then once u try to restart her you will get clicking sounds from your relays and your dash lights dim as as you try start

have u not got a volt meter to check voltage of battery when the engine is off, anything under 11 volts and the car will fail to start as it needs loads of ampage to crank over, as the starter motor / solenoid suck the limited life out of the battery your other voltage dependant components such as dash, lights, relays go ape shit

yea i just purchaced a new battery , 72ah which i presume is a stronger as the one i took off which was a gm one and 66ah.
well it starts fine now with no trouble at all , but i been to get codes checked and clear and one of the codes that came up was 1574 unknown fault ? so unsure as to what this may be , so hopefully someone on here has come accross this code before and can shed some light on it

yea he said something about that but all brakelights are working , so he cleared all the faults n said just try it and see how it goes ??
so fingers crossed its sorted , now with the new battery on , he said that if the battery not working to the correct voltage it can throw faults into the ecu , so this should sort it ?
well i hope so anyway lol

it usually means the brake pedal has been pressed (with the engine off) several times :thumbup:

That might have to do with me looking for a fault with the brake pedal/accelerator and acc2 and seeing if anything came up lol
