I've finally done it!

Well the time came for a laptop. Thanks to Mike and Matt for their advice. :thumbup:

After a few days of deliberation and a swift call to Matt last night, I decided on a HP Pavillion DV6-1330SA. I'm very pleased with it so far even if this is my first big post and its only been out of the box for the last 10 minutes. pmsl..

Its loaded with Windows 7 and has 4GB RAM and has a 320Gb hard drive. Lots of things that i'm not familiar with yet too. At least I can sit in the living room with the wife now on a night without her giving me shit for not spending any time with her, lol! I had a bit of a deal too. They reduced the price of the anti-virus by £35 and they knocked off £30 from Microsoft Office. They also done me 1 month free on the extra warranty and I them install the software and make up the recovery discs before I collected it tonight.

I'm now in the 21st century at last!! thumbup

The laptop itself was £499 but with all the bits and bobs including a HP laser mini mouse it came to £638.

wow at that price it sounds as though its the dogs danglies of laptops,think when i go for a laptop i'll be going cheaper lol

decent processor and plentyful ram

c2d are the way to go with their thermal control & stepping, a newer version of the centrino which is vital imo when it comes to a laptop due to the amount of heat off the CPU

I'm finding my way round it quite easily Matt. I'm not very good at change at the best of times but it looks great. Microsoft Office 2007 looks very posh compared to my old Office 97, lol!

I like the tool bar at the bottom for the internet. If you've got multiple page open, you can hover over the IE tab and it opens up a small window that shows all the active pages and you can move your mouse over the page that you want to reopen and its there! Brilliant!

does sound you got a cracking bargain, windows 7 sounds easy to use, i keep seeing the adverts appear on the tv now
