z22se v L61 ?

hello,

im from the states and live in england. I have a VX220 N/A with the z22se. I can order from the states with out having to pay anything extra as my mail box here is concidered still in the states. anyways I would like to order things like forged pistons or turbo kit from the states but dont know if they will fit. they are both 2.2L ecotec engines but here in the uk its a Z22SE and in the states its a L61. the big question is where can i find out what exactly matches from the state side L61 to the UK Z22SE.

for example the cost of forged pistons:
UK price in dollars $ 824
us price $ 495

turbo kit
uk price $ 8203
us price $ 3523

the engine is the same, the electronics that control it are different
i.e. the forged pistons will work, but the software with the turbo kit won't 🙂

as above; the only real difference is the ecu, plus most L61's are cable throttle

my L61 is wired trottle...
and as far as i know only Trifecta can tune these ecu (well here in us)
i was thinkin what's the most powerfull z22 engine you have?... stock

power wise the z22se is 145 bhp
the z22yh is 155 bhp - direct injection
the z20net is 175 bhp - turbo
the saab aero B207* is 240 bhp - turbo

as for tuned z22se engines,
there is one with 320+ bhp - harrop sc
many in the 260-270 bhp range - GM sc
most normally aspirated engines are well below 200 bhp, but there are a few passing that figure now 😃

my 'z22se/z22yh/saab' hybrid normally aspirated engine is 220+ bhp with individual throttle bodies

I have fitted;

a saab sump + pick up, head and chain tensioner

z22yh oil pump and wiseco 11:1 pistons (almost identical to the z22yh pistons)

z22se timing chains, water pump and coilpack (which has been modified to fit the saab head)

the throttle bodies are from webcon uk

everything else was bought new from the usa for the L61 ecotec :thumbup:

that leaves just the original z22se block and crank remaining :wtf:

well... correct me if i'm wrong but every 4 cyl ecotec(z22xx, z20xx, L61, LSJ) shares the same block no?

i was thinkin of getting an european ecu but i don't know if it'll improve anything

yes they share the same block and are made in the same factory :thumbup:

the euro ecu is locked so little point of getting one, but they are cheap to buy used, about £50 dunno..

even american ecu is locked... bustock for stock... i don't know if it'll improve performance...

There is one naturally aspirated Zafira on here with 241 Bhp!!!
