Tick, Tick, Tick ???

Can anyone please identify a component for me,

It`s situated on the rear of the air box and has an electrical connection along with input / output tubes from the rear of the engine bay to the front of the engine.....

.........mines going tick, tick, tick like the clappers,  what..

I wondered what this peice was as well and apparently according to the Haynes manual it is the....

Evaporative emission system purge valve

Which i'm sure makes sense to someone lol :lol:

Yeah thats the fuel tank vent valve vents vapour back into engine. Quite rare for them to play up.

This was talked about a long long time ago on astra sport. It's quite normal for them to tick, I think they stop once the engines warmed up? Also, not everyones got one. The newer models dont have one for some reason? My 03 does'nt but my mates 52 does.

Thanks for the help guys, just looked through the Haynes manual, ( about time I got one ) so I suppose the tickings just the valve doing its job. Very loud component though.

Alternator change at the weekend so Ill no doubt be back on line, just found out that my Locking Wheel nut bolt is missing from my MOT a few weeks ago, ( new tyre reqd ) just hope they`ve still got it or they can assist with removing them so I can fit my spares.
