No worries mate. I know what you mean, keep toying with the idea of a sub amp setup but i can never make my mind up! lol

First off, what sort of music do you mostly listen to Gaz? Because a 10" would be better for Dance music, a 15" better for dNb, rNb etc, and a 12" is a nice comprimise.

mostly hard house i have a sub and amop on the way know matt it's only a cheapish jbl set up i have never had one before so if i dont like it it's not to much cash i have wasted 😃

JBl are pretty good. I've got a 15" JBL GT4 sub and a JBL P180.2 amp, had it over 2 years now, and it's still going strong

good stuff, have you sorted how you're going to run the power cable from the battery to the boot yet?

yea small hole in the firewall i think cant find any spare gromits on the passenger side notsure.gif

thats your best bet, mine is a bit bodged, but I can't be arsed to sort it out. I've run the cable down the inside of the near side front wing, and then under the seal on the passenger door. It works, and the door closed OK, and you can't see it, so it might have to stop there, it had for 2 years already.

well got my amp sub today 20.gif

but i have no idea how to wire it up :cry:

i have the eath wire which goes to the battery then the amp (which terninal do you connect it to)

then i have a big wire with a black/blue connector on the ends this will run from the amp to the headunit

also have a small thin blue wire which runs the length of the car by the looks of it as it is miles long whats this for ?

and what wire do i need to hook the amp to the sub ?

I have got a 4 gauge Earth cable on my amp. Its about 10mm diameter and this goes to the shortest route possible, not to the battery. It comes out of the amp and locates at the anchor point for the rear seat belt.

The thin blue wire is the remote wire. This goes to the remote wire (blue again) on the back of the headunit. This will turn on the amp with at the same time as you turn on the headunit and vice versa.

The cable from the amp to the sub needs to be off good quality not bloody bell wire!! Oxygen free cable is a must and good quality connectors. See link http://www.autoleads.co.uk/amplifier_wiring.html or this one http://www.bassjunkies.com/index.php?rf=ref_dashcouk

Your best bet is to buy an Autoleads Amp Wiring Kit from Halfords. I think they are about £30. They come with everything to complete the install.

I've got an Autoleads Amp Wiring kit as well, they are pretty good quality, and for a basic set up, plenty sturdy enough.

i have all the wires just wasnt to surre where the all went :oops:

now i have half an idea will be fitting the weekend,the only thing i need is a fuse for the battery wire what sort do i need for that ?

if you've got a proper wiring kit, they normally come with a fuse?? But you'll probably need a 40amp fuse

it did but i took it out and it droped on the floor and the other half stood on it :evil:

so just a normal car 40 amp ?
