hello to everyone, this is my first post so be gentle, didn't know the first thing about this car when we bought it 6 weeks ago but learning fast, needed an estate car for deliveries as they are most practical for us, saw this car on ebay, liked it, bought it £850, then the fun began, took it to garage last week to cure rattle on exhaust and squeaky brake and our nice mechanic said that whichever garage had worked on car before had crossthreaded 1 of the spark plugs and at some point it would need to helicoiled ( I am learning technical terms fast) and also another of the spark plug things was filling with water, so the cylinder head was either cracked or had become porous. At this point I was pretty p*ed off, mechanic got a quote for new cylinder head ( £800) which he thought was a bit steep so I said I would see what I could find, eventually called Motorcast and spoke to a very helpful man who asked what the problems were and I said about the water around the spark plug and he told me it would be number 4 plug and it had been overtighted when it was being put in and and the mechanic had cracked the head then probably gone oh st and put it back together quick, so now in process of getting new cylinder head ordered from Motorcast so it can be fitted, car is still running at moment, just initially starts on 3 cylinders, then runs fine.
Anyway just wanted to vent and say that I still really like this car and enjoyed reading about the cars etc on this forum.
