Another chain snap

Last week zafira running ok then engine stalled and would'nt restart got car towed back home took rocker cover off no chain in site, further investigation after stripping timing cover off hardly any oil in the case and snapped chain.checked oil valve and it was'nt blocked. So i need some help on how do i check to see if the oil pump is working is there any way of testing it. Right thats one problem ive got another when taking the cylinder head to see what damage is done do i have to remove the ejectors before removal, and where about is the air conditioning pipe that the haynes manual says ive got remove. Any imput advice would be helpful. Cheers Stan. ps the oil valve was the one with the larger hole jet

if you had the later spec oil jet then it could be oil pump failure :thumbdown:

I doubt you need to remove an air con pipe, but you might have to release the brackets and move it away to gain access.

the fuel rail and injectors are very easy to remove, just undo the fuel pipes and then the two bolts holding the fuel rail on, then lever the fuel rail upwards and the injectors should come up with the fuel rail, then simply lift off :thumbup:

Thanks for the info vocky i new you you would'nt let me down, am i right in thinking that the oil pump sucks the oil from the sump.

yes it could be a blocked pick up pipe

Latest update on snapped cam chain, Took head off today and all the valves and pistons look ok no marks or bent valves, Would it be a good idea to regrind valves while ive got it off if so can anyone suggest which type of valve spring compressor do i need, there seams quite alot of different types on the market. ps im not going to vauxhall robbers i mean dealers. cheers Stan

Latest update on z22se engine, reground all valves reffited them into head. Then noticed the reason for the chain snap the so called mobile mechanic who fitted my last chain had fitted the black chain guide on upside down causing the chain to rub on the balance chain sprocket untill it snapped the chain (the aresole), any way fitted new balance chain and sprockets and new cam chain and new sprockets, both chains timed up to coloured links. Fitted cylinder head back on with all the other bits that had been taken off pulled engine over a couple of times Now the time to switch ignition on and hope for the best it fired up first time but with high revving and clouds of smoke everywhere the after a couple of minutes revs went down smoke cleared and engine running like a gudun. So if any one is thinking at having a go at doing there chain swap its not to complicated just read up on all the information thats on this site and take your time and double check every thing that you do e.g check timing marks twice and check all bolts tight twice and good luck. cheers Stan.
