OEM cam duration

Does anyone know the duration of the cams for the Z22, and also the lift

A quick search doesn't find much, other than a quick mention of 244 degrees

I'd like to compare OEM specs to some of the aftermarket ones available 🙂

overlap will be important too.... I know on a Turbo'd engine you dont want much overlap, but not sure if that extends to S/C'd too.

Had a look about, this looks to be the "best" article etc on it, depsite having some inaccuracies regarding a turbo being "free" power lol

Thanks all, that list is great Mark :thumbup: I wanted to compare standard with the Comp blower cams, so they give over 1mm extra lift - might be worth it then 🙂

I'll have a look around to see if there are any Saab cams going 😃

Thanks for the link SL - the guy I've been talking to about the AEM controller was more concerned about the overlap :thumbup: He seems to think I need to sell my Comp 1's :roll: (although I was expecting that would be the case 😃 )

well your engine blokey is certainly ticking all my boxes lol

Depending on how many teeth are on the cam pulleys you could retard/advance the sames by a tooth to get the overlap dialed out (assuming the valves wont touch the pistons). Since the adjuatable pulleys are $400 for some weird reason.

high lift/short duration or std lift wider duration should give similar results as its all about the area under the graph and maing sure you get the peak VE of the port used for the mote time.

saab turbo cam sprockets have no locating lugs, you can set the cam timing to whatever you want with those :thumbup:

hmmm no lug's :o this is intersting, vocky what's locks them notsure.gif have you ever herd of them slipping at hi rev's like in the range of 8000. I am mucking around with the valve timming now and was thinking of adjustable gear's, by the look's of this i might just mod mine. dunno.. If saab are the same just no lug's it should be possible, or are they splined on the back of the gear & the face of the cam to stop them slipping dunno..
