Blue_2_2 ive got vx gsi pads and some cheap discs, the car stops fine, but lacks feel/urgencey and suggestions for my next set?
JohnnyN Is this for a Vectra? 308mm Courtenay 16 Groove discs and EBC Redstuff ceramic pads are a fantastic combination. Tarox discs are very good, I nearly went for them. Black Diamond are very good too. I've had these also with no problems. If you go upto 308mm you will need the calpier brackets to extend the caliper out to accomodate the larger diameter disc.
Blue_2_2 no ive got an astra yes ive got 308mm already, but im not that impressed at the performance of them
JohnnyN Big brake conversion then. Kerching!! Wilwoods, Hi-Spec, Tarox, might be worth a call to Mark Watts at Courtenay Sport. He's very good on brakes.
Blue_2_2 fook that need big power to justify it goodridge hoses, ebc redstuff and some kind of grooved discs sound like the next step
JohnnyN rofl.. I'm happy with my setup. I've got the braided hoses too. The Redstuff pads are a bit of a bugger when bedding in as they squeal for a while but its a characteristic of the pad. Once bedded in they stop on a fuckin penny, with no fuss.
JohnnyN None! If you fit the discs with the grooves facing forward, they will be noisey under high speed heavy braking as the pad to disc action is more aggressive. Having the disc mounted so the the grooves are rear facing gives excellent stopping power but without the noise. I used to worry about the noise issue but its nothing. Forward facing noisey! Rear facing quiet! ;-)
Sjdickso Saab OEM grooved discs but they are £££. I have got Mintex sport discs with mintex pads, which seem ok.
Sjdickso 2198cc said: my brakes are ok i want impressive or 'smack my face on the steering wheel sharp' VXR setup then or 4 pots. you aint going to get that with a 308 setup.
