Have owned an 52 reg Astra 2.2 SRi since 04 and absolutely love it. Unfortunately first engine disintegrated after 35,000 miles in 06, nasty knocking noise from bottom end and timing chain snapped 3 months out of warranty. After much letter writing and gnashing of teeth, Mr Vauxhall coughed up 70% for new engine. Wish I'd found this forum then, might have saved myself some coin and an awful lot of hassle!
Last Wednesday, after 60,000 miles the 'new' engine (which has been looked after very,VERY carefully) smashed a conrod through the block 🙁
So found this forum whilst searching for a new engine on t'internet, and here I am. Cards behind the bar, I'm having several pints of Hobgoblin.
