Those designs may flow more but they wouldn't cool very well with a single pass core, that would not have a very good utilisation of the channels in fact that 2nd link is a fucking appaling desing. The Laminova cores are restrictive due to the very small air passages, but these also mean that there is a massive surface are for cooling packed into a small package.
One thing aftermarket (and the muppets* who designed the original) never take into is that the flow exits a roots blower at 60 degrees to the perpendicular I've not looked at the package space properly but IMO you would be better off arranging the SC, a large 3+pass CC and side entry inlet maifold in a stack, conected with smooth 180 bends.
this is somthing sketched up for a none intercooled design, inlet runners would be flipped the other way and flow fed through a CC below them

This arrangement maintains the SC abover the ports and the CC would be below but the three components are essencially linear so could be stacked the other way arround to lower the CoG.
