big ends

My dad has just bought a vectra b 2.2 z22se and now the big ends have gone,do you think the crank would be too far gone to repair it,as he drove it from dover and decided to stop at exeter and get recovered the rest of the way down to cornwall.

Would a z22yh fit and work in a vectra b if i could get hold of one,if i changed the injection system ?

The crank is probably fubbered now. Not sure about compatibility between the 2 engines?

it might be worth replacing the conrods and bearings, sadly the conrods will be scrap if the big ends are knocking

the z22yh crank won't work as the crank trigger wheel is different and so is the flywheel bolt pattern

Looks like it might be an idea to do a complete engine swap instead of trying to salvage this one by the sound of it.

p.s i havn't worked out how to multi quote on here yet,lol cryb..

We got an engine for the car,but the head has a crack in it and is pishing out water so i've been informed by the mechanic doing the job,is it a common problem like he says it is ?
I'm not 100% wether its externally leaking as well as going inside as i havn't seen it for myself.

They can crack around the plug threads whilst removing plugs. The water jacket is extemely close. Hope you start having some better luck soon mate.

Ahhhhhhh i think thats where its cracked ,come to think of it,it rings a bell now,lol
I'm getting the head off the other engine we took out prepared to go on to the engine thats got the cracked head,its not going straight forward with this car at the moment,but it will get there :thumbup:
