what have i done

well after taking my pre-cat out on sunday the car is now running s#@t 🙁
i no i have to give the ECU time to reset itself but i've done over 150 miles of driving and its still the same 🙁
its ok when i put my foot down but it feels like its holding back when i'm driving but not all the time
or if i stop and its still running the idle is all over the shop
can someone tell me WHAT HAVE I DONE? dunno..

hmmm if youve reconnected your lambda sensors correctly(should still be wired in and fitted),
check for any loose wiring.
did you allow much debris to drop back into the down pipe?

it does sound like you have dropped some crap down the cat i know its a pain but try takin off again and blowin out with an air line or hoover it make sure theres nothing in there

Same as above mate ^^^^^^, exactly the same happened to me,i also gave the sensors a blow out as well and it sorted it out straight away hope this helps.

some of the pre-cat did go down the pipe when it was done but i just used an air line on it
the lambda sensors was still in the pipe when it was done i just unpluged it from the engine

I personally would take lambda sensors out and give them a clean mate.It worked for me.

they should still be plugged into the wiring of your engine, this could be your problem if they are not the ecu needs to read em to adjust.

this is all very strange

when i had a blocked pre cat i put on a new cat without the precat as standard and she was popping a lot but also ran perfectly, never experienced these problems

i must admit the only thing i did wrong was to not re-connect the sensors to the wiring as the 'how to' was not clear on this part,
johnnyN told me to re-connect,
other than that this mod should be trouble free notsure.gif
and i like my popping under back pressure it sound good!!! :mrgreen:
saw the pics on your blocked pipe, how does that even happen?!?

had a look again today lambda sensors are pluged in and look ok if i unplug the battery give it 5min
then put it back on will this reset the ECU?
and if it's still the same on monday the pipe's coming back off to give it a good clean out and try again

yep try that it sometimes needs this after this mod and take it easy on the revs for 50 or so miles to help it learn

i thought the vvoc rep and ex vvoc rep andy JJ did your pre cat on the fix it day m8 ?

i would unplug the the front lambda and see how she runs as the ecu will use reference voltages of .45

if you cat is blocked up, and if it is the case the cat will be fubar as bits of metal will heat up and start eating away at your cat

did u do any other mods like the air intake, i just mooched over at vvoc 😛

yeah the 3 of us did it on sunday and no that was the only mod that was done
i'm going to take it off on monday and give it a good clean out i just hope its ok then

it might just be worth getting someone to weld you a sports cat on if you have the pennys,
should kill 2 birds with one stone if debris is your problem.

to date all i've done to the car is the 3 pipe/air box mod and the pre-cat and thats it

i don't have the money to put a sports cat in i'm out of work 🙁

i been out of work since February

like i said m8 it is very strange for the car to run like that, if anything u should have 50 miles of extra performance and slight over fueling whilst the ecu settles down

i cant second guess but if u want u can pop over to mine and i can plug in my diagnostics kit and check the read outs from the sensors, and give u a hand with the cat, u met me at start city 🙂

i have had serious problems with mine when it had a blocked pre cat
