Low3sy Hi people, Im also a newbie on here, only found this site whilst lookin for a new engine for my astra 2.2 sri (04 plate 62k) due to the cam chain snappin! My car was in the garage having a new starter motor fitted.... when picking it up my mechanic advised me that the chain was a bit "rattley" ( i had not heard it my self until he pointed it out!) his advise was to get a new kit from vauxhall and he would fit it for £300 labour... he said it was unlikly to go on me but take it easy! only 2 days and 10 or so miles later it snapped on me doing 60ish (honest) when pullin up i found there was like a gallon+ of oil under my car... is this the con rod smashing through the box as he diagnosed over the phone and any advise on where i even start lookin for a new engine as he advised me? cheers guys
MikeS get underneath and look m8 get it jacked up and find where the oil is coming from most likely u got a one inch hole in the block if it has dropped a rod
