Windows Vista

Right i am in the middle of downloading Windows Vista beta version. Will it be ok to fit a second hard drive to my pc and install this copy of windows onto it without any problems? Or would it cause problems having to hard drives both with Windows installed on them?

Have seen a few screen shots of Windows Vista and it looks quite cool.

Should be any problems, you will hopefully be able to dual boot so you can choose at startup.

its taking ages to download and its an iso file so gonna have to burn it to dvd first.

Is the file big that you are downloading?

its 3 gig and its downloading at 113 kbps

I wouldn't touch Vista with a barge pole. You're going to need a mega fast PC to run it at a decent speed. 3ghz Processor with 1gig RAM is the "recommended" spec for Vista. You'll need to tell the BIOS to boot from the 2nd Harddrive before the one with XP installed as well.

it can be installed on 10 pc's with the same product key which i thought was pretty cool.

what 1 you downloading the 32bit or 64bit m8 😃

32 bit, didn't think there was much point me downloading the 64 bit as i thought it would be better suited to the amd 64bit chips and not a p4 could be wrong though lol.

nah i was going to say that most of the software wont run on the 64bit platform well so ive heard

anyone know of any programs i can use to partition my hard drive without having to format it?

I have a 160 gig hard drive currently split into 3, C drive is 30 gig, D drive is 111 gig and F drive is 8 gig. I have installed Vista onto F drive but it has taken up 7.4 gig so there isn't any room to install any programs like anti virus etc.

So would like to cut the size of d drive down to say 70 gig and then use the rest as f drive and re install vista on there.

cheers Daz but i've sorted it now. used partition magic from a norton disc i had although had a bit of a mare along the way lol.
