I had a chat with a m8 off another car forum and had a lengthy discussion about the internet and car enthusiasts
It was more or less a lengthy debate about convergence, how petrol heads use the internet to create communities to meet up and discuss cars [forums],
I was not so diplomatic in my views as Computers [internet] has always come first then cars second
Now not all car forums are the same so that was a strong argument concerning my theories [i.e. z22se] as a few mods are geeks and petrol heads
Some other car forums simply dislike the computer geeks and their mentality and just find computers disinteresting and even the talk about technology is nothing more than gay and boring
My question is how car enthusiast communities can use online forums to build up memberships and regional groups;
Members who have more interest in cars than computers
Members who equally love cars and computers
3, members who love computers & associated technologies and have a strong interest in cars
- Members who love the above but have a slight interest in cars
My question is if a computer geek went along to a meet to talk about his car would this person be treated any differently to that of a car lover [i.e. a clubber going to rock clubs]
Now I might well be completely off the mark and I know I am talking bullshit but I would like to hear member's views
