How big can your hand luggage be now when going abroard?

I'm off to America next Saturday, but haven't flown in a few years, and want to know how big my hand luggage bag can be, as I don't want to put my DSLR camera in my suitcase.

Economy and Premium Economy

Economy and Premium Economy passengers may take 1 piece of hand baggage on board. Individual dimensions not to exceed 23 x 36 x 56cm, (approx 9 x 14 x 22 inches) and 13lb/6kg in weight.

I think you know the rules, you just wanted everyone to know your off to the States with a super DSLR camera...show off LOL

The only holidays I get, my hand luggage consists of a fully loaded rucksack with all my gadgets I don`t want to get broken, a kevlar helmet and body armour.!!!!!!

It's for work mate, short notice planned. I'm going to leave my camera at home, and taken the wife's point and shoot.

anything such as a laptop loaded down with gear should pass through

average suitcase weight is 15KG - 20KG

Cheers Mike, it's just going to be my laptop, two books, ipod and a small camera now. Will weigh it when I get the chance, but should be less than 6kg.

i remember the times when laptops were not included as part of your hand luggage but it has all changed now 🙂

you book a holiday with thomson and you have to pay extra to take suitcases with you lol

They were telling me that at work. When they got to the airport, they had to pay to check their luggage in. Last time I went abroard properly was 8 years ago last month, so I'm guessing it's changed a bit since then.

at usa customs they will expect your itinerary, so make sure you have a printed copy of your hotel bookings, your flight details and they might ask how you are planning on travelling etc
