may well be but have never seen anything about this on this forum and bought a code reader before my mate told me he has done this on his mitsubishi so i went looking and found this thread

think a code reader would be much better tbh, never tried this but see a thread on vvoc were some members was reading codes that didn't exsit

didnt think the paperclip test worked on the 2.2's or is it the other one that dont work where you turn the key to number 2 position and press the brake pedal and accelerator

thought it was quite clever how it worked although i think i would get frustrated tryin to count flashes if i missed a flash

Ah that old flash reading trick that only realy works acurately on older cars like novas and astra mk2/3's its for obd vauxhalls which is the old style diagnostics and our cars are obd2. I got myself a geniscan obd2 reader from ebay years ago it was only cheep and its been getting me out of the shit ever since 🙂 .

worked right up until 98ish

worked on the aldl plugs and obd2 plugs

will not work on this ecu and I dont recommend trying it otherwise u could pop an IC on the PCB

worked a treat on my old astra gsi redtop as well as my dads 1.8 vectra

nowadays it costs peanuts for a cheapo reader

worth looking at gendan for cheap vxhall readers

as above, it doesn't work on the z22se engined cars

have one of them but will not fit my socket under the handbrake. I have a 2002 2.2 vectra b 51 reg. is there any code reader I can get that will work.
the socket I have is the same as pic in the link in post one.

I've got the Gendan code reader and it fits the socket on my 51 plate Vectra B.

That also fits the socket on my 2005 Vectra C, and I even got it working on my mates 1998 Nissan Micra. The connection should be the same on all cars.

Matt's reader also fits my car as he turned off my EML when we went to the Courtenay Anniversary event back in July.
