Milltek or Remus backbox

:wave: peeps,

I have narrowed it down to either getting a Milltek or Remus backbox but want some opinions on which one I should get?

Obviously whichever one I get is going to be better than the stockbox so that's not an issue. I'm not after a massive performance gain, more so after a nice subtle exhaust note. Something with no drone, something that aint going to wake up the neighbours but at the same time something you can hear coming 😃

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Do you have a tail pipe design in mind? Also, what car is it going on? Vectra/Astra?

Its a 03 Astra SRi (non turbo).

Well I really like the Remus tailpipes and not so much the Milltek Pulse tailpipe. Although i did notice with the Remus that the bore size in the backbox is only 2" whereas the Milltek has a 2.5" bore.

Currently the SRi has a 2.25" bore so which one would be better suited for my car?

I'm pretty sure the 2.5" bore would be better than a 2" but do you guys reckon that a 2.5" bore is a bit overkill for a NA engine?

2.5 inch on a NA will be fine. I had this on mine before the SC and it increased torque by 20lbs with my Milltek catback system. The Remus is known to be rather loud. The Milltek is the more decerning enthusiasts system.

magnex have gone bust, they should be lots of them about going cheap. esp on ebay

ive got a milltek 2.5" resonated system from a astra gsi
i changed it before fitting cams, it pulls harder going up hills, but otherwise feels a bit flat.
i took the drastic measure of fitting a jetex restrictor, its now nearly o.e silent on idle, but feels more lively, like when i had the standard 2" system on.

i think your choice depends on what you want to do to your system, if your going all out then the bigger system (2.5") will make good sense, but if not then maybe the smaller 2.25" might be better.

As Johnny says a full remus system are pritty loud, I know some members dont rate them but i like my remus centre section. Milltek systems are nice though.

You centre section sounds nice Si, because you have the standard Irmscher back box fitted. If you had an after market back box on, yours would be bloody loud!

I love my remus system sounds just right noisy when ya boot it but quiet when cruising

Now see my remus even with the custom 2.5" downpipe and 200 sports cat wasnt loud, and Daz cant back me up, it was quite quiet, too quiet in fact...if you want noise, peco or scorpian..
