2.2 manifold

i have a 2" crack in my manifold so i just wanted to no can i weld it up or am i just better off getting
a new one? I can get a new one off vauxhall for £118 with the gasket's

Are there not any on ebay at the moment?? There should be a fair few knocking about since the recent Piper manifold group buys. Might be worth putting a Wanted ad in our Classifieds?

had a look on e-bay can only find 1.8 2.5 v6 so is it best not to weld it back up then?

You can do but it may crack again later?? Have a go, you've got nothing to lose.

looks like it has had a hard life and has reached very high temps

your best off scouting the scrappies and pick one up for peanuts

well after looking for a 2nd hand one with no luck i got a new one from VX with the gaskets for £123.00

my nice new manifold 🙂

i went about changing them over (old one with the crack in 🙁)

old and new

the car now run's and feel's alot better now i'm well happy 😃

2nd one i seen crack on that side closest to the chain

strange as on the x20xev engine they crack closest to the cambelt as well

must be vibration and heat

I've got one of those cracked manifolds kicking around. You can weld things like that but you need to heat it all to cherry red and keep it hot while you weld it. You'd need a cast iron filler rod too then a slow cool down. If you just blast straight in with the welder it'll crack virtually straight away. For the price you paid I'd say you made the right choice.

yeah i was told i can fix it but i can't have the car off rd cos its needed and the crack was about 90%
the way round :o so i just got a new one and fitted it myself 🙂
