bad drowning noise

hi, im getting a really bad drowning noise from the rear tyres at 30-40mph, ive heard that the camber of the rear suspension can cause this but fink it could be the wheel bearings. ne1 else get this?

Are the inner edges of your tyres worn? This could be a camber problem. If not then as you said, most likely the wheel bearing. Jack the rear and see if there is any play in the bearing by trying to shake the wheel from top to bottom on either side of the car.

as johnny said jack up rear of car and give the wheels a good tugging, should be a bit of play and some slight knocking noises

with the vectra b u have to replace the whole hub and your best off doing both sides, they cost about 50 quid each

sounds like a bearing to me too.
i thought the rear was fixed so you cant adjust the camber? or vectra's different on the rear compaired to astra's

Camber is fixed on the Vectra. The only way to alter it is with a shim kit. LMF do them.

sounds like a tyre out of shape to me
out of shape tyres usually make a noise 30- 40 if it was a wheel bearing it would be there all the time from 30 mph onwards

warning signs of wheel bearing start around 3-40 then as they start to wear even more it happens constantly over 30 mph

could well be a tyre also

ive found the drowning noise it was the rear tyres. they were badly feathered on the inner edge. I duno what caused it, the tyres are cheap budget Triangle tyres :thumbdown: , i wanna wondering if the offset on my alloys are wrong? or jus need a decent branded make of 18" tyres? :crazy:

also by lowering your car the camber changes and you get increased tyre wear

i fink the noise was there b4 i lowered it, got the standard springs on now. its really annoying espicially driving at 30mph its so loud!!!
