Quick Format..

...Yaz has now got a laptop so the home pc is back to being mine (unless for quick school work & printing etc)

Its been used for watching millions & millions of clips of Hannah Montanah etc as is probably clogged up with sh1t thats slowing it down or that I generally dont want.

If I save all my pictures / files to a DVD was impact would a quick drive format achieve???

ie...my computer - right clicking on C drive and selecting FORMAT?

would this free me of most of the rubbish? Oh - I don`t have a back-up CD and currently still on XP on this machine

That would wipe the whole OS from the drive!

I dont mind having the computer as if Id just got it out the box...I`ll back up all my pictures etc prior to doing this.

OS = Operating System

Quick Format is used to wipe the whole drive of EVERYTHING on there (I don't even know if you can quick format the drive the OS is installed to??)

Its worked a treat thanks Matt. Cleaned up all the crap, just downloaded about 11Gb of pictures I had on various discs to sort through properly and its running so much better.

Nice one, it's always good when you can get them working better without having to format them. I really need to re-format my Vista on my Laptop, but my recovery disc which I created says it's not for HP laptop?? Funny as I burned it from the laptop when I first got it

Then you also come to use a program and can not find the installer for it PITA, thats why you should always make a image but i never do.

I know mate, I do keep all my install files in a Software directory on my external harddisk, but it's the reg keys I usually have a hard time finding, as I just keep them all in a directory in my e-mail client. Should really archive all my old e-mails as well.
