Hi guys, first post here. I lurked for a while to find out info on the engine in my vectra, as it had started to rattle badly. Luckily caught it in time and had it all fixed. Without this forum i'd have probably been looking at a dead car, so thanks for your useful info 🙂
Anyway, new problem....
The air conditioning doesn't work. It doesn't 'kick in' when the button is pushed like it should. Have refilled it and the gas instantly disappeared again. After a bit of a look in the engine bay, the radiator connected to the air con looks like it is bent in the top right corner (as you stand in front of the car). This is most strange, as i do not understand how this could bend in this location (behind the front bumper). I have also checked and the air con has the 'recall bracket' fitted (this is an ex-cop car so has had all recall work done, plus fresh camchain at 40k miles that subsequently failed at 130k).
Any thoughts on fixing it? I'm going to try buy the parts on the cheap and have my friendly mechanic fit. Or does anyone know any air con/vectra specialists in the Cambridgeshire/essex area who are used to Vectras and their problems?
Would pictures help you guys diagnose problem?
Any help would be greatly received.
