Misfire

I seem to be getting a misfire when the engine is cold (ie left overnight). It seems to happen around 1.5K-2.5K and goes quite lumpy and quite jerky. It has now started to struggle to idle until it clears itself. This only happens until its warm then the problem goes away.

I have checked and have no fault codes and no eml light comes on. I have an EGR Cheater, plugs are only a year old. Would this either be the coilpack/igintion modual or maybe the coolant temp sensor??? I only use it at weekends but its bugging me now

I would go with either a damp coilpack or dodgy coolant sensor

the coolant sensor is becoming a very common failure, must be the age of the engines or something ?

How can i check the coolant sensor? The car has clocked 53,000 miles if that helps?

It might sound silly. I know you said the plugs are only a year old but it might be worth changing them anyway as you now have a problem. they can go at any time. I had a new set in my old 1.8 coupe and within 6 weeks, one packed up on me. if not then the only other thing i know it could be which is the coolant sensor as already said by Vocky.

I will check the plugs to be safe, is there any checks i can do to the coilpack to check that too? I have been looking here http://www.speedsterclub.nl/bibliotheek ... index.html for the coolant temp sensor but cant seem to find one for a z22se. Does anyone know the part number for it?

See i saw that one but then saw that it looked like it was for the Z20let :oops:

Well i pulled the coilpack out and pulled the rubber parts off and gave everything a clean as there were a few spots of corrosion. As soon as i started it it seemed find but after it cooled again the problem seemed to be there. So am i right in thinking that this could be the coolant sensor? Is this the brass one by the exhaust manifold? Will i lose coolant chaning this?
