Air Con Concern

My air con although working was not the coldest, last week I added some R134 refrigerant and it definitely helped, today I checked the gauge and topped up to the recommended psi. Since then when switching the AC on the radiator fan kicks in, I cannot remember this ever happening before just the compressor starting. Is the rad fan supposed to kick in?

Its an Astra sri 2.2.

i was under the impression the rad fan cools down the condenser as well

look at any decent size air conditioner and you will see fans on 24/7 to ensure the condenser doesn't overheat

You may be right but I can't remember it being so noisey, it's the rad fan kicking in when AC switched on thats making the difference, also when first topped up the compressor seemed to being switching itself on and off on it's on accord, very odd.

Isn't there a seperate fan for the AC? There was on my calibra can't remember if there is on my astra coupe. Ive noticed mine coming on when I pit my A/C on so can't be that big a deal.
