Hi all - I bought myself an 02 plate Astra 2.2 SRI about 3 weeks ago with 63,000 miles on the clock. So far I'm very pleased with it 😃 though it is quite a lot thirstier than the 1.3 Micra I had before it! I'm very much a newbie to both Vauxhall's (the SRI is my first) & to this forum & I must admit to being slightly concerned about all the horror stories I've read about cam chains snapping due to the oil jet becoming blocked. My engine is running well & quietly so I don't think I've anything to worry about (yet) & I've also just changed the oil & oil filter (more for peace of mind than anything else). I've checked the cam chain tensioning bolt - on the back of the engine near the exhaust manifold - & that has the slots cut into it. However I understand that this isn't such a reliable method for telling if the oil jet's been changed or not - my car came without any service history as such so can I tell from my engine/chassis number if the oil jet has been changed under warranty or not?
Many thanks
Paul 🙂
