2 Stroke Oil in Derv

After reading a couple of threads about this on several sites, I've decided to give it a go.

I bought a litre of 2T Oil from BP this morning:

Castrol Power1 Scooter 2T Oil

So, based on a ratio of 1:200, I put 330ml of 2T into the tank, as the Vectra is 61 Litre, then filled up with Diesel (BP Ultimate)

Engine started fine, but only driven back round the corner to my house, so not been for a run yet.

Yep, see my posts in there as well 😃

It's meant to help lubricate the fuel system, and helps the engine run smoother/quieter. I've noticed already that the engine is running quieter

how do you measure out 330ml? how much would i need to put in a 52 litre tank? i might give this ago to 🙂

The bottle has a measuring level on the site, showing in 250ml increments, so I went form that.

For 52 litre tank, you'd need to put in 260ml of 2 stroke oil (1/200 * 52 = 0.26)

Just been looking at the tests someone did on the Fiat Stilo which uses the same engine as ours:

"i had added 1 shot of millers to 170ml of 2-t oil (castrol actevo jaso fc)and mixed in a glass container to see if it settled out? after 2 days no seperation so threw it in with 45L of shell v-power last night, went for a drive 50 miles 50mph-70mph varying coasting and hard on boost.wouldn't say its got any more go or sharper response but it does feel smoother as in dulled slightly?
anyway i had taken dB readings before adding it to compare and also videos now on you tube.
car is fiat stilo jtd 16v 150bhp but boxed to 180bhp 20k miles ,
standard from cold start

looking at the evidence so far from my readings all i can say is my car has not altered in noise level inside the car +/- 1dB at idle but the engine does appear to be smoother looking at the glass test(but engine was warmer)
will get more readings from cold start another day and post up.
if it does no harm and helps lube the diesel i will keep using it especially as i run higher fuel pressure due to box."

It's the glass of water vibration test that impresses me so much, the engine is running a lot smoother.

Well, I've almost used a full tank of diesel since I filled up with 2stroke. Still going well.

its seems to be a good idea at derv is just a light lube.
the injectors on a derv are some what bigger than a petrol ones. and everyhting in them needs to be lubed up to keep working all this is doing it adding a more refined lube to keep them working smoother.
so really it should make the car a little bit quiter not that you will notice and should make it idle a tad smoother.
as the dervs now have to do a re-genration on the catalytic to which means about every 600-1000 miles your engine will work that bit harder.
ie it chucks in a lot more fuel in to the cylinder. on each stroke the injector fires 5 times so it starts to put flames down the exhaust to burm the exsive carbons like co, co2, ho ect etc.
so whould really keep the engine components running longer using's the oil in the derv.

That's only true if the car is fitted with a Diesel Particle Filter......which mine isn't 😃

Only the Zafira, Signum and Vectra Estate have them fitted.

Yep, I'm really glad as well, as with the short trips I do in mine, it would never get the change to regen, and block up causing all sorts of problems.
