No reverse lights an it ain't the lamps or the fuse!!

Hi guys hope someone can help me here, i've just been told that i have no reverse lights on the car at all, now it definatly is not the lamps or fuse because i have swapped them over and still nothing.
On the weekend just gone i fitted a total closure system to the car which wires into the central locking module in the drivers foot well, could this be the problem because i'm sure they were working not so long ago but not entirely sure.
any help would be appreciated

I really dont have a clue tbh... Is the wiring in good shape? Only takes one wire to have a slight brake in it to stop working. unless its ya reverse switch?

get a volt meter on the bulb connector

then work backwards

the switch on the gearbox could be faulty also

Well thats what i thought, it might be the switch just a coincidence that i notice it straight after doing that mod. But to be honest they could have been out for a long time an i just ain't noticed it!
Do any of the light wires i.e reverse lights, come from that module near the bonnet release lever?

Quick check, is to bridge the plug that comes off the switch with a paper clip if lights work then its the switch if not bugger youve got a wiring fault.

Cheers i'll try that on the weekend haven't got time whilst working lates.
I'll just have to beep the horn in intervals whilst i'm reversing lol!
Where exacly is the switch?

You can see the switch from the passengers side wheel arch best remove the wheel for better access

right guys i got the switch out of the gear box plugged it into the wire and pressed the switch in with my finger and the lights come on! could it be that when i put it into reverse its not pushing it down far enough?

Yeah I had this problem on my astra coupe. If you try pushing the gear into reverse, quite firmly (without damaging it obviously) it can make the connection.

is this switch in the same place on an astra coupe i think ive found it does it look like a metal lever type thing im havin no revese light troubls aswell

Don't know for sure, but would have thought so being the same engine?! - it's a plunger as oppose to a lever.

the switch should be behind the passenger side front wheel, there you'll see it screwed into the gear box. you'll need a 19mm spanner i think. the switch only cost me around £7.50 ish when i done mine. hope that helps

the plot anoyingly thickens 🙁 i got my switch today and swapped it over and it turns out that it wasnt the switch after all i plugged in the switch and pressed it and the lights came on but when i screw it back in the gear box the lights dont come on even if i firmly jam it in reverse any ideas anyone please

how about fitting it without the gasket, if that works then use some thread sealant rather than the gasket

doubt it is mechanical otherwise you wouldn't have reverse
