I'm gutted, I do the wrong side of 350 miles a week and dont need this.
I noticed my engine sounding strange while its was dropping its revs while changing gear, it was happening at higher rpms as i was overtaking someone for instance.
Its getting worse, if i hold the car at 60 in 3rd gear, the engine is vibrating like crazy and its passing the vibrations through the cars body too. between 4 and 5k rpms is where its happening. (and probably above)
Ive had the engine since 16k miles, always serviced it using 10w 40 oil and i dont boy race, no TLGPs or anything. Its done roughly 40k now, i had the timing chain replaced at 18k just because i wanted it done. Its had oil changes 2500 miles apart most of its life and changed to 6k once i started with the silly mileage. Recent spark plugs too, triple electrode Vx ones.
It does it more while under load rather than sitting stationary, but it does do it in gear or out and with the clutch in or out. If i get it vibrating while moving, i can dip the clutch and the noise doesn't change. Its harder to get it to do it stationary though. Or jacked up with the wheels spinning.
BUT
Its running okay, doesnt appear to be burning any oil, the coolant is fine. it idles okay and it accelerates okay, you wouldnt think anything was wrong until you reach 4k rpm.
I'm baffled, throw any suggestions or ideas my way, I need things to check dunno..
I'm wondering if the balancer shafts could be causing it with the silly speeds they spin?
Thankyou
