broken timing chain in opel zafira 2.2

Hi all,
The timing chain in my opel zafira was broken and my local permitted garage told me that a huge damage was done to engine because of the broken timing chain. He told me to replace the engine since it will cost me about the same to fix the engin or to replace it.
I saw that there were many issues regarding the timiming chain in Vauxhall but I didn't see anything about opel zafira. Are these the same cars?
When there was a recall of the engine and where was it?
I have about 150,000KM - Is there a way to ask them to replace the engin on their own expenses?
The engine # is z22se 1104.....

it will be cheaper to replace the complete engine, the inlet valves will be bent, the inlet valve guides will probably be cracked and the pistons could well be damaged.

the 5 year warranty for a new car will have expired, so you will not get any help from opel
