hello how can you tell if the cat has or going on my car notsure.gif

im using more fuel than i ever was and i was wondering if it was the cat that is making it go higher,every so often i all so get a eggy smell in the car would that be the cat

I have read on the site to also clean the throttle body would this help?

is it easy to take throttle body off and do yourself

might be your front lambda causing you to over fuel

to take off the the tb it is 4 bolts and a 5 minute job to clean

eggy smell might mean your cat is blocked but your car should have lack of power and rough running

the throttle is not responsive (when you put your foot down it takes a little time to responed)

i was told that was because it is chain drive

ok ill take off tb clean that,then go for the sensor (is there anyway to check that ant working)

fly by wire so it wont be like a cable driven throttle body

everything is sensor'd so u need an obd2 interface to check it is working well

right got hold of a laptop (my Brothers good old boy) which one out of the link do i need

today cleaned a very black sooted throttle body when reving it up it sucks very loud is this good or bad

also on tick over i heard hissing coming from under neath the power stearing tank does the tank have a hiss or is there any breather pipes under it? as couldnt realy see

used vauxcheck no faults still uses a lot of fuel about £40 week but use to use £20 anyone got any suggestions should i look and clean egr valve thanks

Blank the EGR vavle off.

Getting rid of the EGR valve is what most people with the 2.2 do. We sell an EGR cheater which allows you to blank it off, there is loads of info about it on here.

As Matt says blank off EGR, then Give it a oil / oil filter change / air filter and also fuel filter and see how you get on. Also have you changed what fuel you are putting in ie brand.

na same fuel have just serviced it ill get the cheater and blank it off oh well wanted something to do this weekend just have to wait🙁

I haven't bothered doing all the 3 pipe mod but have de-restricted the air box, like most people do. There's not much gains to be had but a good excuse to tinker with the car, find the 'how to' for it and follow that, easier enough to do, and a good mod to start with.

There's plenty of info on here about what mods to do for minimal cost.

i didnt bother with the 3 pipe mod i just ripped the lot out and put in a direct cold air feed,pulls better now and feels more responsive
