Need to wash the car, how do I start?

I need to wash my Astra Gsi. It's been back from the paint shop a week now, it was all nice and clean when I got it back, it looks new again. It's been sat 2 weeks now on the drive and it's got alot of dust sitting on it. I don't want to rub all that grit into the paint work, so how should I start to clean it. I am willing to buy some new products to do the job. Cheers

leave it a few more weeks for the paint to harden even more

the dirt and dust will protect the paint from chips

just rinse the car down with water before u start washing her but i am no expert based on some links i have seen from our head admin 🙂

i have left cars months after spraying before giving em a good wash

Sounds good. The paint work is dry, he only sorted out a few errors he had done when it came back last time. Cheers

Pressure Washer and Snow Foam for a pre-wash to remove most of the settled on dust. If you aren't 100% confident the paint is dry, don't pressure rinse the foam off, just use hosepipe water to rinse.

2 bucket method for hand washing, to stop you re-introducing dirt back onto the sponge and a good Microfibre cloth for drying (plus a quick detail spray....this helps lubricate while drying)

Just as Matt said,

Two bucket method and pre-rinse is vital esp to soft paint. Also a decent WW towel and some QD as lube will stop drying marring to the paintwork.

How do you do the two bucket thing. I only have one, but I am willing to buy another one lol. I just don't want it to get swirl marks on it. I will get some nice towls for drying it off. I only use the car once a week 🙂

I even have a hand mitt to wash my cars now, there was nothing wrong with a sponge I thought !
