vx220 dyno run and poor results :-(

Hello.

A friend of mine that is tuning his vx220 almost the same way I'm doing, has recently dynoed his car with a pretty disappointing results: about 153 HP to the flywheel.

The car has the following mods:

· Removed precat
· Removed cat
· Disabled ERG (physically not electrically)
· Custom exhaust
· Custom K&N filter
· 2.4 Mani
· Lightened flywheel
· Stage I Comp Camps

He didn’t have the chain locking tool so he totally removed the cams and the sprockets, before installing the Comp cams with the sprockets....should it need cams readjustment after the poor results? :?

I'm worried because my cams were installed the same way.

tbh with the cams the car would run like a total sack of shit if the timing was out.
the power dose seem to bit down since i have the same set up but dont have the 2.4 inlet and im running about 170ish.

TBh i would have thought it would have been around 160, dont forget how hot it has been.

What was the rolling road? was others on the day running slightly low figures as well?

rolling road results vary so much they are hardly worth the paper they are written on.

so much can vary, air temp, tyre temp, etc

generally the z22se doesn't like running without a cat, I've seen standard cars lose 10 bhp by removing the main cat !

Yes, it was a rolling road and the fan was just in front of the car, so I'm afraid the intake couldn't have enough air that way :eh:

you should quote the brand of road it was before mentioning any results

The rolling road used for it is Madrid, Spain...so I suppose the brand has no interest at all in UK dunno..

Yes the brand of the dyno would help weather it be dyno dynamics / Mustang Dyno etc.

Dyno results from Spain would be very different from the UK due to the difference in ambient temperature. Obviously Spain is considerably hotter than the UK so you would immediately expect higher inlet temps thus lower power. There are other factors such as calibration differences between the UK and the rest of the worlds standards.

Also.............lets not forget the very differing results from the 2.4 inlet manifold. This mod seems to be a very grey area regarding performance increase. Some have had gains whilst others have suffered losses. During all the developement of this mod between Courtenay Sport and Thorney Motorsport, there didn't seem to be any reliable repeat performance gains.
