That's strange your models have EGR on them, on mine it just has a block-off plate right where the EGR would be. I would've figured the US models to have more emissions equipment.
Also, you may still get a troublecode stored in the computer for insufficient EGR flow. You also run a risk of running hot and/or lean during cruising because the inert exhaust gases are not there to limit the amount of oxygen into the combustion chamber. It's best to have the EGR turned off in the PCM.
