Bloody Potholes!!

Buckled another of my wheels!! :evil: Sick of potholes!! 🙁
NSF this time, was OSF not long ago! Running 18" BK604s wrapped with 215 35 Falken FK452 tyres. Found a place quite local that will repair bent rims so considering getting them all re-furbed and the buckled on straightened.
Its either that or drop to 17s with a bigger profile tyre...not sure how they'd look though or which ones to plump for though if i did. Any suggestions what would look good on an Astra G? notsure.gif

Makes you sick the state of the roads. We've just had a large stretch of crappy country road re surfaced..... still crap and bumpy, just meant diversions for a week or so and fear of stone chips the following weeks!!!!!
Glad we all pay well for our road taxes.

answer to potholes and poor condition roads is speed cameras and speed humps

thats where our road licenses go to

what you could do is go find a massive pothole on a road that would damage your wheel without using excessive speeds, take a photo of the pothole and alloy, get a few witness statements off passing drivers or pedestrians, i.e your friends and send a nasty letter to the local council with your evidence giving them 28 days or your solicitor will get involved

i know ppl who have had money off em as a result

Good suggestion but i already did that with the first wheel i bent and got fobbed off!! 🙁

Basically because the local councils inspection regime was set out for yearly inspections of the road (even though the condition is apalling and it needs resurfacing!) that's their get out clause. The damage to my vehicle happened within that period so the only way forward is to take them to a small claims court at my cost and chances are the judge won't make them pay out! It's a joke, i don't know why i bother paying road tax because it isn't spent on the roads!

17" sri turborims or snow flakes maybe with 215 / 45 profile.

It's harder to get compo for stuff like this even with proof of damage and photos councils have all sorts of loop holes one i was told was if they have inspected a road in the last 12months then tough.

you don't live that far from me m8 I'm in Bolton and the roads here are SHOCKING my car has developed so many squeaks knocks rattles its unbelievable and not only that doing 20 mph over the speedbumps here is horrid every time i end up smash in my bumper on the road and my car ain't even lowered

Going to take my wheels to http://www.nationalalloys.co.uk/Cars.htm tomorrow, they're local to me and can fix bent rims for £20 and refurbish from £35 which is very good value, heard good things about them too.

I might opt for a different colour to silver,not sure yet, possibly white or maybe diamond cut like the corsa VXR wheels.

The roads here in Sheffield are the same, so many holes and bumps etc where work has been done, and the people filling them back in do such a half assed job, it's unreal. Nice to see where all our road tax is going to.

Took the bent rim to get checked over and apparently it can't be repaired, something to do with the rim twisting or something like that. Thats not the worst of it, i was just going to buy a new rim and have the others refurbed but they stopped making my wheel years ago apparently and nowhere has any!! I've tried absolutely everywhere 🙁 They are advertised all over the net but when i've rung up and they haven't got any and can't get any in, even BK Racing don't have any anymore.
Taking the rim somewhere else tomorrow to see if they can repair and if not i'm going to have to fork out for some new ones.

Considering getting these, told the lad i'll take them pending what happens tomorrow.

I'm just hoping that this other place i take it to have some different machinery or something and will be able to repair it. Its only got a flat spot on the inside of the rim but the guy i took it to today recons the wheel has twisted or something and can't be repaired. Whether he just means he can't repair it i don't know, find out tomorrow!
Yeah those wheels are mint and dropping to 17s from 18s will probably reduce the amount of tyres i go through from hitting potholes and shouldn't buckle as easily too! Would prefer not to spend £400 though seen as the place i took mine to today would have refurbed them for £180!

Hope that you can get them fixed but as said them snow flakes do look well.

The place i took them yesterday, Diamondwheels in Stockport, said they can fix them for £75 each. £55 to straighten and then an extra £20 to refurb 🙂 He recons they weren't twisted either so that other guy must have been talking out of his a*se.
I've still got the bent rim from last time i hit a pothole so will get that done too so i'll have a spare alloy. Still going to get the remaining three done at National Alloys because they're much cheaper. All in should end up costing me £255 which isn't too bad.
I do really like those snowflakes though, they're a very good price too, i've just got other things to spend my money on so would rather not shell out £400 unfortunately.
