Polishing the cam cover

Hey peeps,

What would be the best stuff to polish the cam cover of my Z22SE with? I have some '00' wire wool and autosol, along with some Megs NXT metal polish and some Belgom polishes.
But I'm not sure what the cover is made from? An alloy of sorts? aluminium?

My cover looks naff, it's dull and water marked, and seeing as I have a VX220, it lets the appearance down every time you open the boot, plus you can see the engine through the grills so a nice shiny cover would look great. :thumbup:

plenty of 'elbow grease' and autosol will work wonders 🙂

it's solid alloy, so no risk of damaging it

First, I used sandpaper and a wire brusch, then 3 M polishing wool and finished it with another wool with polish.

That is the result of a couple of hours handcraft:

What grade sand paper did you use? Did the wire brush not leave any scratches?

I took one of grass, so no scratches. I used it for not easily accessible areas.

Don't remeber the sandpaper grade. Just try sth around 240-800.
