Hey Folks,
My motor (05 Vec 2.2 SRI) has developed a problem with the drive belt...the belt low down on left side of engine, turning alternator etc I think (low knowledge here).
Its squealing away when cold startup, and weather wet...morning dew is causing it some serious grief. It's also causing rattling underneath, again this was bad when I pulled away this morning...it was like a tractor for a second or 2. (Lots of dew).
I'm thinking belt tensioner...new belt...hoping this isn't a big issue and was wondering what this may cost to have fixed. Up in Edinburgh so unlikely anybody will know a trustworthy place to take it? The Vauxhall dealers here are all owned by car supermarket style retailers and are thieves in my eyes.
Hoping it's not the timing chain. I've had my ear to the cover and it seems smooth enough...it's the improved version but has now done 51k so will be doing it soon anyway.
