Mark_Dj I noticed yesterday that I have been driving around in my Gsi with my exhaust blowing. I looked under the car yesterday with the engine running and I noticed the condensation dripping out from the cat to back join (Middle Pipe). I put my hand over it and it was leaking air a fair bit. Yesterday afternoon I went to Halfords and bought some Loctite High performance Gasket/Sealer. It can handle heat up to 350'c. That seems to have done the job. When my exhaust was blowing like that what would it have done to my car? Would it have made it worse on fuel and other stuff? Cheers
Mark_Dj I have also used some of this stuff to seal the crack on my manifold, it's probably still going to come off lol. I have just checked again and all seems well on the sealing of the joints. It even sounds better when I rev it up 🙂
Daniel yeah probs woundnt of done any damage but probs would of been a tad worse on fuel lol but at leasted it sealed up ok 🙂
Mark_Dj Would it have made my car any slower? It's probably been like that since day one when I fitted it lol
Matt Should have been OK Mark, just a bit of back pressure lost due to the leak. I drove with a massive gap in my exhaust on the Astra when I fitted it, and it was fine.
JohnnyN I've had a leak at the same point for 12 months now. I've been nursing it along all this time and I only fixed it again on Friday night. I have now made my own metal shim gasket and fitted that along with some uprated Powerflex rubbers to hold the centre box up higher so the the joint doesn't dip. Seems good at the moment. Only time will tell.
Mark_Dj I think thats what mine did was to dip a little. I can't wait to try it out, might make my system a little less noisy. Cheers
