darreng1983 Finally got my new engine running OK appart from the fact that the crank pulley does not spin true, its really wobbly and appears to be making a tapping sound (I assume where it is catching on somehting) which sounds worse when the clutch is pressed. Any ideas what could be causing this? Surely the crank isnt bent? Cheers cheers..
vocky probably not fitted correctly, the woodruff key can get damaged and stops the crank pulley from fitting correctly. remove the pulley and have a look if the crank pulley is bent then replace it, I have a few laying about if you cannot find one
darreng1983 Legend, thanks! Just whipped the pulley off and sure enough, the woodruff key is mangled. I've managed to get a replacement woodruff key so will fit that shortly. The pulley is a bit out of shape on the shaft where it was tighted against the mangled key, which is why it was a pain in the arse to get the pulley off. Can you send me another pulley? How much do you wanted inc postage please? Thanks
Daz Careful with the woodruff key when removing the old one,as it also locates the lower timing chain gear, make sure nothing turns..
