Hi all, putting this up on behalf of a friend, he has just had a full bottom end rebuild on his vectra and it wont crank.
He has had a total bottom end rebuild along with new crank and timing chain, now its giving him trouble.
With everything connected back up - turn the ignition key - you get all the dash lights and it preforms it checks - try to start and it will not crank nothing not even clicking like when the battery is flat, the battery had a good 16hr charge before trying to crank it over.
My m8's dad did all the work and he is a very competent mechanic been in the trade over 20 years. It sounds to me like an electrical problem, a wire left off somewhere or even an earth strap.
Now could someone please tell me where all the earthing straps are for the engine/gearbox, also can anyone give me a few suggestions to put forward to my friend as to where else he should be looking for the starting problem.
He has checked the earth strap on the top of the manifold for the ecu and also thinks he has all the earth straps connected, could someone tell me all the locations of the earthing straps so my m8's dad can double check it.
Any other suggestions as to what might be causing the car not to turn over, the engine has been out of the car for 6 weeks roughly not sure if this would have anthing to do with the problem.
Thanks in advance all.
