White smoke

hi, ive had various problems with my astra 2.2, but recently i had the egr valve replaced, ive been told it will smoke a bit utill i drive it to burn off residue, but the only time im getting the white smoke is at the bottom of this long steep hill with traffic lights at the bottom i stop at the bottom then pull away in ist and a mass of white smoke comes out of the exhaust? this is the only time i can see the white smoke when i drive the car. i dont want to go back to the garage incase its just as they say.
please can anyone help the car is driving me crazy!!!

it could be coolant

check your coolant tank and your dipstick and oil filler cap for sludge

oil filler cap might have a layer of white condensation on it which is nothing to worry about, we talking like milkshake everywhere 🙂

Checked the oil cap, nothing, but im still getting a bit on the dip stick which i told them about so they did an oil change and oil filter change and flushed it through because its had the head changed and the chain changed, but they said the oil was fine, but as iv just checked it its still showing on the dip stick as before? the coolant warning light on the dash it a bit irrattic when you turn the key, sometimes it goes out straight away and somethimes it stays on utill the engine is started then goes out. could this be a problem and how do i sort it out? cheers dawn

Not sure what im checking the coolant for? thought it might be head gaskit problem again as its burning oil , had to put a litre of oil in it, the oil was only changed 3 weeks ago?
please help.
