LMF 308 mm brake upgrade.

Just ordered a 308 mm big disc brake upgrade from LMF. to include Black Diamond grooved discs, pads and lower arm air deflectors. This puts the turbo size brake discs on the astra with the right brackets. £265 delivered. Plus I have also gone for the goodridge braided hose kit as this makes a great difference to the pedal feel.

I'll let you all know what it's like once it's fitted.

I phoned LMF yesterday about the same thing. I'm going for the Black Diamond Drilled Discs. The problem is that at the moment they've run out of air-deflectors.

Johnny, I spoke to LMF late today, air deflectors are now in and my order should be with me Wednesday.

Any reason you are going for the drilled discs???

I was reading on the AP Brakes website that the drilled ones can be prone to warping and cracking under heavy use, hence my decision to go with grooved ones.

As I understand it grooved ones are better for deglazing the pads and removing dust and gases, but he drilled ones are better at cooling the discs surface.

I don't know which is best.

I'm not a really heavy braker and usually i've got the wife and kids in the car and i'm not allowed to drive too mad with them in there so I thought the drilled ones would be okay for my use.

I have a naturally heavy right foot, both on brakes and throttle !!!

Have to see how these discs perform.

Did you get the Goodridge hoses? I know for a fact that these make a hell of a difference to the pedal feel, they almost completely eliminate any spongy feel. The pedal is always rock solid. I have them on my Mk2 Cavalier.

With me having a Turbo now I want a little bit bigger discs for my car. I need to replace mine, as I think one is warped.

Your turbo should have 308mm brakes as standard, but I think you can get 325mm upgrades for these.
