Throttle Body Help

my car is throwing up P1514, when the car starts it revs quite high then sounds awful as it flits between 2000 - 2500rpm.

i get no response from the throttle pedal at this time, but if i turn it off and just then turn the ignition on and i press the pedal i can hear it ticking as i press the pedal.

im assuming i will just need a new TB unit, but im not sure, im going to try test a new on tomorrow when my mates comes round.

i know it could be an air leak, possibly from a crack in the manifold, but ive not had enough time to strip that back, and plus i didnt want to go to all that effort if it is just the TB.

where is the best place to get a new TB?

i am sure the p1514 - p1516 is based on the throttle body or pedal

it is basically saying the flap on the tb is not correlating to the position of the accelerator pedal and usually the ecu will learn that over time or an ecu reset

best thing to do is take off the air intake hose and get some one to press on the accelerator pedal with the ignition on and you can usually see the flap opening and closing, note the flap positions when u put the pedal to the floor and only half way down

Yeah probably won't need anyone to press pedal, as butterfly should be closed on idle. If it is closed then air could be getting in further down, possibly cracked manifold.

I would check the electrical connections of the throttle body and pedal

also worth cleaning the tb

on the vx220 there are also a pair of plugs hidden behind the coolant tank which also require checking/ spraying with wd40

problem resolved 🙂

it was the manifold in that was broken, if you remember some decided to cut off that circular section then stick a plate back over to keep from hitting the alternator, well it finally perished after 6 months of being stuck down with bathroom sealant lol

re put it on with stikaflex and it should be as good as new.
