Knock then rattle

OK I've posted this problem elsewhere but ill make a new thread as it was posted on Boxers thread.

The problem is when im drivin and i go over a bump or pot-hole i get a Knocking noise followed by a rattle, the noise is coming from the front however when i press my brakes in a little when going over a bump/pothole their is no noise not sure.gif ............ Doin my head in now :crazy:

Any help or suggestions lads?

I have had this problem before. I did what you did and the noise would go away. I think it's something to do with the callipers. Have a check around the front wheel area on both sides and make sure everthing is tight

For how cheap they are i would look at getitng the ARB droplinks changed. It may not help but they do seem a common fault with the astra and make a noise / clunk when worn.

Ebay are cheaper then oe items but do tend to wear faster.

There is how to when Matt changed mine some time back, pritty easy to change it's just getting the seized nuts off which is a pain.

oooooooooook still got this issue however Ive found that its coming from the back......... and it's something to do with the rear breaks i had them done not so long ago and when I'm driving i put my handbrake on slightly it doesn't rattle and wen i press my break on wile going over pot holes it doesn't do it. S i took my back wheels off and checked the nuts were tight lol and they were. however i found that the pads are moving inside the calipers and make in the rattle noise?????????? could this be it?? cheers
