Took the car into VX on Thursday for a free 25 point check as I've got my MOT next month. Car passed all the checks etc, so should fly through the MOT.
While I was there, I asked about them changing the Fuel Filter and also changing the gear box oil. On my Vectra, the gear box is notchy as hell, when cold going from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, and when warm going from 2nd to 3rd to 4th. Turns out VX have revised the amount of oil required for the F40, from 3.2 litres like mine has, to 2.4 litres, as too much oil affects the syncromesh cones.
It's not a hard job to change it yourself, just drain and re-fill, but you have to remove the engine tray from under the car, and also remove the battery and the battery tray. I was expecting somewhere in the region on £100 for the gear box oil change. Was a nice suprise to be told £60 all in inc VAT. Not worth me messing about myself for that sort of money.
The car is soooo much nicer to drive now, gear change is nice and smooth, and well worth having the revised amount of oil put in the box.
