Gear Gaiter

My gear gaiter has started show signs of wear at the top so i bought myself a new one.

I was going to get suede one like Johnny but decided on getting a leather one like the one that is already in the car

It arrived today not 100% sure if i like it TBH dunno..

I may fit it and see how it looks.

Does anyone know the price and part number of the genuine VXL gear gaiter?

Once my alcantara gaiter wears out, i'm going to try for one like yours with coloured stitching.

Yes, you pull this tight to grip the top of the gaiter to the bottom of the gear knob.

I just dont think it looks very OE, the last thing i want is to see a zip tie at the top.

I may have a look at the oe one this weekend otherwise i may pop to VXL and get a genuine one.

si you taken yours off to have a look yet?
the vaux one is zip tied to your stick to, you have to tie it from the underside and pull it down to cover it
where did you get the gaiter from? i need a new one lol

No not taken it off yet.

Got it off a re-trimmer but they also have a ebay shop will pm you the link.

I will have a look tomorrow if i get chance.

Thats what i was thinking, surely that is going to be visible because its the top of the gaiter, i can't see how it wouldn't? notsure.gif

you zip tie it on up side down then pull it over so the zip tie is inside

Rob is absolutely right about tying it on upside down. I was to lazy to do mine properly. It's on my list of things to do. ;-)

yeh did it on mine

put a cable tie around the inside of the gator to hold it on the selector then cut of remainders of cable tie and pull gator over it

you will see that vxhall do it as standard as well

Managed to get this done yesterday and took some photos.

Was easy to do took about 30 mins taking time to do it.

Pictures of the old one split at the top

Flip the plastic cover under handbrake, to see two torx screws

Removed them then lift the gaiter and plastic holder

cut the old zip tie off.

The gaiter is then held in with a white plastic clip, pull the gaiter off from it and then fit the new one in the opposite way. The hardest part was pushing the gaiter into the white plastic clip.
