Noisey Start Question

Hi Guys, recently ive notice that on cold start my engine is very rattley and when i listen it sound like it coming from where the chain is located.

i had my chain replaved 18 months ago.

thinkin of doing an oil change?

after a couple of mintes the nose goes or dies down.

any ideas....

it might be a cracked exhaust manifold if you've had the chain done.

but it might be the chain tensioner has become 'sticky'

well guys, ive gone and dropped the oil and put in castrol magnatec. 10-40 i think and the reason i have is cause with shell helix its like water and my engine is noisey with it in and t burns off too easily, just filled her with magnatec and she is running super sweet and really quiet.

i seen a few 2.2's with fully synthetic oil and they do sound noisy on cold start as if the chain is bouncing up and down off the cam cover for a good 5 seconds

Isn't fully synthetic what Vauxhall recommend anyway

I always use 5-30 fully synth as i think the car runs better on it but it does tend to burn a bit more then 10-40 semi prob due to the fact it is like water lol.

I was always told to use 5-30.

I think the key thing is that you change the oil and filter every 5 - 6K

it is what vauxhall use from the barrel now

10-40 is no longer available in such form

you can however get it for like 14 quid for 5 litres from local motor spares as it is widely available on pallets now

well since ive put this magnatec in shes alot alot quieter and she idles smooth as. no lump or nothing. pick up is alot better too and takes off on the motorway.
