Fitting a switch to lock the doors

OK just a thought but would it be possible to fit a switch to lock the doors when driving? id like to remove my door pins but for safety reasons for my fiancee and kids i like her to lock the doors when she is out n about. now if it is possible which wire would i have to break into on the central locking module and if i break into one of these wires will it effect the alarm or immobilizer in any way? cheers guys cheers..

clifford alarms used too do a system for the doors for whenever you turn the igniton key they automatacaliy lock...i had one fitted on a escort years ago with central locking

My Vectra-C does this as standard (doors lock when you go above 10mph), and like said above, Clifford alarms have this option as well (guessing others will as well)

was wondering if i could tap into any wires to do this? which wires and also would it effect anything? cheers m8

you should be able to do that, I can't remember exactly the wire colours, but you need a two way toggle switch - up to 'unlock' down to 'lock'.

you need to connect a either a positive or negative (depending on the switching) to the middle and then connect the 'lock' wire and 'unlock' wire to the switch

a haynes manual should show the wires

the vectra uses a negative switch, not sure if it's brown/red and brown/white or red/blue and red/white, you need to confirm with a haynes manual

i know vvoc west mids region are having a total closure fitting day next week

cost is 30 quid supply and fit

i aint sure but i think it just controls your leccy windows when u press the key fob

you can fit a vec/omega stalk that has the mid control buttons on the end

you then need to connect the 3 wires to the locking control module

brown- earth
brown/white to brown/white on the module
brown/red to brown/red on the locking module

this should then give you finger tip locking control

the daft thing is the symbols on the stalk are quite fitting to

S- secure
R- release

ive done this to my vec and it only works whilst the car is not dwead locked

once the car is dead locked the buttons on the stalk dont work so even if a windo is broken the car will still be locked even if they try the buttons on the stalk

i have pics of the connections some where on my pc just need to find them

if you get the stalk and its car side of the loom plug

extend these wire so thay will reach the locking control module
then the connections you need are in the right hand plug (if its the same locking module fitted to the vec)

the plain brown wire just goes to earth (the earth bolt above the locking module will be fine

the other 2 are just colour match (if you extend the wires with the right colour wires)

look for the brown/white and brown/red from the drivers door loom, then you use a 2-way momentery switch, switch earth 1 way it locks the other way it unlocks, nice little mod.......
