As above. Recently bought an astra coupe 2.2 which was advertised that has engine problems. Owner bought it from somone else so couldnt tell me much but here goes.
Started engine up and could hear the chains rattling so ive just fitted 2 complete chain kits, balancer and cam. All timed up and turned over fine.
Now i think somone had tried to fill the engine wit more oil to quieten down the chains as it was over the max mark. Now this seemed to cause oil to come up through the rocker breather and into the air filter pipe and throttlebody, even into the inlet which had a small puddle in it lol. Drained the oil the an o.k level.
So i cleaned what i could and fitted it all back together.
Started it up and everything started to quiten down once the oil got round. But the engine did kick out some smoke which will be being burnt from over filling i think. But i could hear what sounded like a tapping coming from the right hand side, say piston 4. I thought piston slap possibly so took the rocker cover off again to see if the valve was coming back up and is fine. Idid notie the iside of the rocker never had much oil inside it and thought not alot had got to the head.
Now does anybody think i should just run the car with some engine flush and replace the oil. Wait untill the engine gets hot and see if the fresh oil has made it quieten down. So far the engines been ran for only about 1-2 minutes max.
Cheers
